40th Anniversary Campaign & Organizational Awareness
Project Summary
Prevail strives to empower victims of crime and abuse on their path to healing while engaging the community to support safe, healthy relationships.
Since 1986, Prevail has assisted over 70,000 survivors and their loved ones in putting the pieces of their lives back together. When trauma happens, they are there to provide hope and healing to victims in the community. Through their Primary Prevention efforts, Prevail is working towards ending acts of violence before they happen. Effectively creating a safe and healthy community for all of us.
Prevail is preparing to celebrate their 40th Anniversary and looking to create a collection of meaningful video content that honors their legacy, amplifies survivor voices, and promotes their ongoing mission.
At Ben Hodge Films, we specialize in authentic, cinematic storytelling that highlights the heart behind the work of individuals and organizations. My approach emphasizes dignity, respect, and human connection — values that align closely with Prevail’s mission.
To support this initiative, our team will produce and capture a collection of videos — from concept to execution — that not only celebrate and honor this legacy, but tell the stories of Prevail and survivors impacted. This is a multi-video project and the videos will be used for donor investment campaigns, community awareness, partners and volunteers.
This is about more than just a video, it’s your anchor for fundraising, donor trust, and long-term community engagement.
Goals:
Commemorate Prevail’s 40th Anniversary through a dedicated feature video that provides a historical overview, highlights milestones, survivor and community testimonials and celebrates Prevail’s impact
Develop a general organization video that educates on Prevail’s mission, confidential services, survivor support and community engagement, and inspires
Produce 3-5 short vignette videos for outreach and digital engagement that highlight stories or programs
Producing all content with the utmost respect for survivor confidentiality and dignity; ensuring safety, privacy and empowerment to those who are featured
I don’t just make videos—I help people tell stories that matter.
My work is rooted in listening well, asking meaningful questions, and crafting visuals that feel honest and human. What sets me apart is my ability to uncover the deeper “why” behind a story and bring it to life with clarity, intention, and heart.
I believe great storytelling builds trust. And I’m here to help you do just that—with creativity, strategy, and a process that feels collaborative from start to finish.
Director’s Statement
PRE-PRODUCTION
To get things started we’ll connect via Zoom, a phone call or in person to talk through the details and specifics of the project and each shoot day. This process includes a Pre-Production Questionnaire. Pre-Production would take place mid to late September.
We’ll identify key moments, events and individuals that we want to capture
Prepare questions for interviews
Discuss details around security, safety and privacy of survivors to ensure we build the right foundation for the interviews
Create a tentative schedule for outlining key events, days, times, location(s), etc.
Discuss final deliverables and platforms being utilized
PRODUCTION
Production will include multiple cameras, as well as lighting and audio, 2 Days of shooting and 1-2 locations. Production would begin in early October 2025.
1 day filming interviews with 12-16 individuals (survivors, staff, supporters, partners)
1 full day filming on location b-roll with individuals and Prevail’s location
For our time filming b-roll we will arrive about 1 hour prior to when individuals arrive or filming begins to ensure we understand the schedule and layout of the day before prepping gear for filming
For interviews, we will arrive roughly 2 hours prior to the shoot to set up and prep gear so we’re ready to begin filming on time. For these interviews we will film either on location at Prevail or another location TBD
POST-PRODUCTION
This is where it all comes together. We piece together the video components into engaging, authentic content to help tell your story. Post-Production would be 2-4 weeks, including revision time, with final assets delivered by December 15, 2025.
Reviewing and selecting best segments from b-roll for engaging content
Color grading footage
Adding lower thirds, graphics, titles or additional text
Audio editing (including EQ, artifact removal, compression, etc.)
Selecting appropriate musicbed for the video (including necessary licensing)
Ensuring the right tone, feel and flow for the story
Adding .SRT captions on all deliverables
Creating backups and storage for all files and clips
2 rounds of revisions for all video deliverables

Story Example #1
This is a part of a Legacy story where we combined interview and narrative components with b-roll video to share just part of Ken’s story of life change.
Story Example #2
In August of 2025, Cedar Valley Christian School celebrated its 50th anniversary. The goal of this project wasn’t just to celebrate the rich legacy and foundation of the school, but to also showcase what sets the faculty and school apart as a top choice for Christian education in the community.
We combined b-roll of the school and snapshots of its history with interviews with former and current staff, as well as alumni and parents of current students. The final touch was adding the voice-over script that was read by one of the original founding members.
Story Example #3
This was one of the first stories we had the privilege to capture and share. When we first heard of Alan’s story we knew it needed to be shared. It was such a joy to interview Alan, and by weaving his narrative and b-roll we were able to capture the true heart of this story. This is a beautiful reminder to “Be still and know”.

These are still frames pull from our video footage. We deliver these as 4k images in the .jpg format. They can be used for website or social content, and occasionally can be used on print pieces.

INVESTMENT
Pre-Production: $800
Production: 2 Days — $3,000
Post-Production: $3,200
Total Project Estimate: $7,000
While Prevail’s anticipated budget range is $2,500-5,000, I believe this expanded investment ensures high-quality storytelling, multiple deliverables and lasting value beyond the anniversary campaign. This will be content that will build a foundation for donor investments and expanded community impact.

RECOMMENDATIONS & CONSIDERATIONS
Trauma-Informed Storytelling
It’s important for survivors to have a sense of trust in knowing their story will be handled and told with care and respect. From the initial introduction to the interview and the questions, all the way to the final edit. This often looks like having a familiar face or friend be the interviewer, using open-ended questions that invite authentic responses, or allowing the individual to set their own pace. It’s about honoring the person and acknowledging their story.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
To reflect the broad community impact of Prevail, it will be important to ensure diverse representation among interviewees.
Participant Care
This requires close coordination with the Prevail staff to ensure all survivors and partners feel supported throughout the process. We may offer some pre-interview time without cameras and lights to help build trust and provide clarity. Additionally, we may want to allow some additional time in the schedule to avoid rushing or pressuring individuals.
Maximizing Long-Term Impact
We want these videos to have an evergreen design, allowing for maximum impact and minimal updates in future years. There may be value in capturing additional short cuts from interviews beyond the planned vignettes to increase Prevail’s flexibility for future campaigns.
Ethical Representation
We want to empower survivors with agency in how their stories are represented, including the option to provide feedback on how they’re used. We also want to focus on survivor resilience and Prevail’s supportive role, and avoid dramatization or re-traumatization. It’s key to balance stories of challenge with hope and transformation.
“Earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God, but only he who sees takes off his shoes; the rest sit round and pluck blackberries.”
